Product information

Dettol Antiseptic Liquid is a concentrated antiseptic solution containing chloroxylenol 4.8% w/v as its active ingredient. It is intended for antiseptic cleansing of minor wounds caused by cuts, bites, grazes and insect stings, as well as certain personal hygiene uses according to the product leaflet.

Supplied in a 750ml bottle, this amber liquid must be diluted with water before use. The dilution and application method depend on the intended use, so always read the package leaflet and follow the directions for the specific application. This is a medicinal product for external use only.


 

Important Information

For external use only. Never swallow or use undiluted. Do not use on eczema or similar skin conditions, after expiry, or if allergic to any ingredient. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Not recommended for use around cats. Read the package leaflet before use.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients:
Chloroxylenol 4.8% w/v (active substance).

Other Ingredients:
Pine oil, isopropyl alcohol, caustic soda solution, castor oil, caramel and water.

Allergen Information:
Pine oil contains d-limonene and benzyl alcohol, which may cause allergic reactions or local irritation. Do not use if you are allergic to chloroxylenol or any other ingredient. Check the package leaflet for complete safety information.

How to Use

Always dilute before use. For minor wound cleansing, the product leaflet specifies diluting 12.5ml of Dettol Liquid in 250ml of water, washing the affected area and covering it with dry gauze or lint. Other uses require different dilutions, so follow the leaflet for the intended application. Avoid contact with the eyes, ears, nose and mouth. If swallowed or if the product gets into the eyes, follow the pack’s first-aid instructions and seek medical advice.
